Christopher Nance, a weatherman and reporter at KPIX-TV in San Francisco, has been hired as the new weekend weatherman at KNBC Channel 4.
Nance, 31, will join the NBC-owned station July 10. He takes over the weekend duties from Fritz Coleman, who recently became Channel 4’s weekday weatherman when Kevin O’Connell moved to KCBS-TV Channel 2.
A native of Fort Dix, N.J., Nance grew up in the Monterey area and received a bachelor of science degree in political science from the University of Santa Clara in 1976. He has been working in TV since 1979 but, like Coleman, also has experience as a standup comedian.
