Robertson Scores Knockout of Nuno

Welterweight Hedgemon Robertson of Huntington Beach improved his record to 26-1 with a fourth-round knockout of Pomona’s Eddie Nuno before a crowd of 1,410 Monday night at the Irvine Mariott.
The fight, scheduled for 10 rounds, was stopped at 2:31 into the fourth. It was Robertson’s 19th career knockout.
Westminster’s George Garcia scored a 10th-round knockout victory over Tadashi Maruo of Japan. The bantamweight fight was stopped at 2:59 as Garcia raised his record to 22-3-2.
In an earlier bout scheduled for four rounds, middleweight John Armijo of Huntington Beach won a unanimous decision over Frank Martinez of Los Angeles.
In other bouts: Greg Punte of Alhambra knocked out Rene Bonilla of Panama at 2:09 in the first round in a four-round lightweight contest. Los Angeles junior lightweight Genaro Hernandez scored a unanimous decision over Dino Ramirez of La Puente in a six-round bout. Welterweight David Gutierrez of San Diego knocked out Norman Gabourel of Los Angeles in a scheduled six round fight that was stopped after five. In a split decision, super bantamweight Robert Shannon, of Edmonds, Wash., defeated Ralph Gutierrez of Los Angeles in a six-round fight.
