Mideast Hijacking

I have as much fear, loathing, contempt, distrust and animosity toward the hijackers as the next person, but why not negotiate with them?
I don’t notice that our refusal to negotiate has lessened the number of terrorist acts. So why do we continue to maintain such a fiction?
Talking to terrorists doesn’t legitimize them. Nothing legitimizes them. But they exist, and their actions exist. And we have to deal with those actions. Either we exterminate the terrorists, which we can’t do, or we deal with them.
