A fire of suspicious origin gutted an Imperial Beach restaurant Saturday morning, causing more than $1 million in damage but injuring no one.
Firefighters from San Diego, Imperial Beach and Chula Vista fought the blaze, at the Columbus Ristorante Italiano, 829 Seacoast Drive, for more than five hours before it could be brought under control, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
One week ago, another suspected arson fire caused moderate damage to the restaurant, which is owned by Gaetano Dilisio of Long Beach, the spokesman said. Sheriff’s deputies will investigate the cause of the fire.
