Trinity County sheriff’s deputies, aided by more than 25 volunteers, dogs, horses and helicopters, searched the remote Trinity Alps 50 miles north of Redding for Los Angeles Daily Journal reporter Gail Diane Cox, 39, of Burbank, who failed to return from a one-day hike. Cox, who was vacationing at the Bonanza King Resort on Coffee Creek, was last seen Monday after noon by two other hikers as she was returning in 100-degree heat from Stoddard Lake to her car at the head of the trail three miles away.
