New York Atty. Gen. Robert Abrams filed suit to block people from moving into six houses at Love Canal near the former Hooker Chemical toxic waste dump at Lockport. Abrams is seeking a court order to require the Love Canal Revitalization Agency to prepare a thorough environmental impact statement before selling any of the 450 homes near the landfill. About 800 families have been relocated from the area since the late ‘70s, when toxic chemicals were found to be seeping from the landfill.
