Westworld Community Healthcare Inc. said Thursday that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the New Boston General Hospital in New Boston, Tex. Westworld, which provides rural health care services in 12 states, is purchasing the hospital from Health Group Inc. of Chattanooga, Tenn., for about $2.8 million in cash.
New Boston is the ninth rural medical facility Westworld has acquired this year and brings to 33 the number of facilities operated by the Orange County company.
Michael Dunn, Westworld’s chairman and chief executive, said the deal is set to close on Sept. 30.
The 63-bed hospital is located in a town of 5,000 near the Arkansas border. The hospital also serves a wider area of 15,000 people. Dunn said in an interview that Westworld would probably operate an alcoholism treatment program as well as the hospital.
