Quake Hits Tashkent

MOSCOW — An earthquake measuring between 5 and 6 on the Soviet 12-point scale--described as “relatively strong”--shook the Soviet central Asian city of Tashkent on Saturday, Tass news agency reported.
It did not say if there were any casualties or damage. Tashkent was badly damaged by an earthquake in 1966 and was rebuilt to withstand moderate tremors.
