Sierracin Corp. of Sylmar has named a Rolm Corp. executive as president and chief operating officer of its electronics group in a restructuring of the company.
Joseph F. Swyt will be in charge of the five Sierracin operating divisions that make equipment for the electronics industry. Peter K. Maeussnest, who has been president and chief operating officer over all of Sierracin’s nine divisions, will give up responsibility for the company’s electronics group to concentrate on its four aerospace units.
Both will report directly to Sierracin’s chairman and chief executive, Christoph Tribull.
The addition of Swyt and the division of the company into two groups, a structure it had given up two years ago, is intended “to bring focus to the electronics group,” a spokesman for Sierracin said. He added that, although the company’s electronics units are still profitable, they have been hurt by the industry’s slump.
Swyt, 46, is now general manager of Rolm’s large communications systems division in Santa Clara. He previously was a vice president and general manager of Gould instrument division in Cleveland.
