The company said formal approval came from the Department of Commerce for the export to China of CDS’ computer-related products along with IBM Personal Computers. The amount of the approved license is for $305 million, consisting of 4,000 IBM PC XTs, 10,000 of the company’s HEX-29C desk-top computers, 10,000 CDS graphics display/processors, 4,000 CDS 2300 laser printers, hard-disk upgrade kits and CDS’ comprehensive Chinese text-processing software.
