Brentwood resident Ralph J. Shapiro is the president-elect of United Cerebral Palsy Assn., a voluntary health agency serving the disabled with more than 200 affiliates around the country. He was elected at the association’s annual conference in Washington, D.C.
Shapiro, a Beverly Hills attorney, is a member of the Chancellor’s Assn. of UCLA, a trustee of the UCLA Foundation, and chairman of the board of directors of Hanover Management Co.
He was instrumental in arranging the merger of United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles with the Spastic Children’s Foundation, a move credited with helping to provide many of the residential and independent living programs that now exist in Los Angeles. These include facilities in Los Angeles, Chatsworth, Sylmar, Culver City and Torrance. The organization is expanding to Ventura County.
