Hoping to find new sources of revenue to help maintain Hollywood’s most famous landmarks, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has begun putting under license the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Hollywood Sign and the Hollywood Christmas parade.
The chamber will also license use of a new Hollywood Walk of Fame logo which is expected to be used in conjunction with Hollywood-related products.
Chamber President Bill Welsh said he hoped the licensing program would provide funds for a “complete overhaul” of the Walk of Fame--which has seen many of its sidewalk-embedded stars vandalized and damaged in recent years.
Welsh said he hoped the licensing would also pay for maintenance of the hillside Hollywood Sign, which also has been vandalized over the years and has proved expensive to clean and upgrade.
