IAPE voted to file a complaint against Dow Jones.

The complaint was filed with the office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, a division of the U.S. Labor Department, by the Independent Assn. of Publishers’ Employees. The union alleged widespread discrimination against employees and failure to have an affirmative action plan. Dow Jones publishes the Wall Street Journal and Barron’s magazine. The federal complaint alleges that Dow Jones has discriminated against employees on the basis of race, sex and national origin in the areas of hiring, termination, promotion, job assignment, wages, training and apprenticeship and pregnancy-leave policy. The complaint also alleges that Dow Jones has harassed employees because of their race and sex.
