Moorpark College’s Tim Nelson threw a seven-hit shutout Thursday afternoon to lead his team to a 1-0 Western State Conference victory over host Oxnard.
Oxnard’s Dale Chadwick yielded only two hits but walked eight Moorpark batters including a bases-loaded pass--Chadwick’s fourth straight walk--to Glen Turnipseed in the second inning.
The victory over Oxnard, the 13th-ranked team in the state, gave Moorpark a 6-4 conference record and a 10-12 season mark.
