WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service said today that it is offering extended hours of service this weekend for people who need help filing their federal income tax returns.
The toll-free telephone hot line will be open between 1 and 5 p.m. local time Saturday and Sunday to answer tax questions only.
Questions about refunds and other clerical problems should be delayed until regular business next week, the agency said. On Monday, the deadline for filing, the toll-free lines and walk-in service at various IRS offices will be open until 6:30 p.m. local time.
