A Los Angeles Unified School District police officer has been charged with attempting to rape a 16-year-old developmentally disabled female special education student in a storage room at Wilson High School on Feb. 25.
The plainclothes officer, Ruben Armando Gonzalez, 36, pleaded innocent Friday at his arraignment in Los Angeles Municipal Court.
Gonzalez, free on $10,000 bail, is also charged with sexual battery. He has been placed in an administrative job until the charges against him are resolved.
A preliminary hearing was set for April 17.
