Worker’s Legs Nearly Severed

A workman at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard had both legs nearly severed today when a heavy pipe fell on him, officials reported. The victim, whose name was not revealed, was undergoing surgery at St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he was taken by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics after receiving first aid.
