U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Thomas Britton cleared the way for Miami-based Evans Products to receive a $50-million loan from a group of its banking creditors. Evans, a building products company controlled since 1983 by Miami Beach financier Victor Posner, filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code on March 11 along with seven of its subsidiaries. Britton also authorized the lenders to free immediately about $10 million that Evans has in cash deposits.
