Newcastle Elementary School in Reseda, one of the 19 West Valley schools closed by the Los Angeles Unified School District because of low enrollment, will reopen as an administrative annex for the district’s Student Guidance and Health Services Division.
About 65 employees will move to the site at 6520 Newcastle Ave. in April. The school will be used primarily as an administrative site for counseling, guidance, psychological, health and nursing services, district officials said.
Newcastle was one of six West Valley schools closed in June.
One of the schools closed last year, Sequoia Junior High, has become the site of the Valley’s Center for Enriched Studies, a magnet program for grades 4 to 12 that emphasizes advanced academic work in all disciplines.
