A retired Marine sergeant was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for three armed bank robberies. William Ritter Rapp, 42, had pleaded guilty earlier to robbing the San Clemente branch of Security Pacific National Bank Dec. 4, holding 23 people hostage before surrendering to police who had surrounded the bank. He also admitted two earlier robberies of banks in Duarte and San Juan Capistrano. Rapp of Oceanside was sentenced in Los Angeles by U.S. District Judge Richard A. Gadbois Jr.
