A Villa Park man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of bribing an auditor for the state Board of Equalization, the Orange County district attorney’s office said.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Maurice Evans said Gordon Randall Hanshaw, 46, was arrested by investigators on suspicion of bribing the auditor in 1982, when Hanshaw was corporate manager for Frederick J. Hanshaw Enterprises Inc., which owns several liquor stores in Orange County.
The company was being audited in connection with the collection of state sales taxes between April 1, 1979, and March 31, 1982, Evans said. He said Hanshaw was released on his own recognizance after his arrest.
