Point Loma Nazarene Opens District Playoffs

SAN DIEGO — Point Loma Nazarene College plays host to Cal Baptist College at 7:30 tonight in its opener of the District III Southern Division playoffs in Golden Gymnasium.
Pt. Loma Nazarene (23-7) is seeded fourth in the playoffs, in which the winner will advance to the 32-team NAIA national tournament March 13-19 at Kansas City. Cal Baptist (16-14) is seeded fifth.
Junior forward Deon Richard is the leading scorer and rebounder for the Crusaders, averaging 19.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
Other leading scorers for the Crusaders, who beat Cal Baptist twice during the regular season, include Greg Kimbrell (13.8 scoring average), Randy Schott (10.6) and Steve Bruce (10.4).
Cal Baptist is led by junior guard Pat Green, who is averaging 16.5 points and 4.5 assists. Also scoring in double figures for Cal Baptist are Anthony Davis (12.1 average) and Craig Richards (10.5).
