Collier Leads Mesa College Women to Victory

SAN DIEGO — Diane Collier scored 20 points and had 11 rebounds as Mesa College beat East Los Angeles, 76-71, in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Mesa College Saturday night.
The Olympians (7-3, 15-9) were trailing 37-23 with 3:44 left in the first half, when they scored 14 straight points. That spurt tied the game at halftime, 37-37.
Mesa, the 11th-ranked team in Southern California, also received 18 points from Stephanie Smith, who made 8 of 9 from the field.
Dana Dawson led the Huskies (16-5) with 22 points.
