Greek Court Bans ‘Jesus’ Brand Jeans

ATHENS — An Athens court has banned the sale of “Jesus” brand sportswear in Greece saying it is “contrary to the ethics of the Christian church,” a court spokesman said Saturday.
The spokesman, who asked not to be identified, said the Friday ruling carried a one-month prison sentence and a $385 penalty for each day the company’s representatives continue to sell the jeans.
The spokesman said two Greek Orthodox priests sued the Aris Tsatsoulis Co., which distributes the Italian-made jeans in Greece, after seeing the name “Jesus” on the back pocket of a pair of women’s blue jeans.
