Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.’s 1984 earnings rose 34.5% to $411 million on revenues of $10.24 billion, the Akron, Ohio-based firm reported. Goodyear also said its fourth-quarter earnings were slightly lower than the previous year’s, and included a $35.1-million gain from the early retirement of long-term debt. Goodyear attributed the full-year improvement to increased tire sales worldwide and improved sales and earnings of its industrial rubber, chemical and plastic-products segments.
