House Balks Over Indiana Seat

WASHINGTON — House Democrats today rejected 221 to 180 an attempt by Republicans to seat Rick McIntyre as a GOP congressman from Indiana.
At the end of a stormy debate, Democrats promised to report within 45 days on who won the race in Indiana’s 8th House District, a contest that has been in dispute since the Nov. 6 general election. The results of a state recount in the 15-count district became official Tuesday, showing McIntyre the winner by 418 votes over the one-term Democrat Frank McCloskey.
