Local News in Brief : Shop Owners Evicted After Suing Landlord

Audrie and Debbi Benjamin, the owners of a clothing boutique who alleged that their landlord at an Encino mall was trying to throw them out as punishment for charging discount prices, have been evicted.
The sisters vacated their store at the Plaza De Oro mall on Ventura Boulevard on Tuesday. The boutique was named Audrie.
The women were served with an eviction notice after the state Supreme Court denied their attorney’s request for a stay of a Superior Court ruling in their landlord’s favor. The landlord, Jacob Kohanzadeh, contended that the women had violated their lease, which permitted the Benjamins to sell women’s clothing, by selling shoes.
