Eight people were injured in two nearly simultaneous, but unrelated, traffic accidents in Norco on Thursday.
Two Corona men were injured when their truck hit a tree at the side of 1st Street, near Corona Avenue, said Norco Fire Capt. David Goad.
Thomas McIlrath, 21, of Corona, suffered head injuries, Goad said. He was admitted to Riverside General Hospital, where he was reported to be in fair condition Thursday night.
McIlrath’s passenger, Robert Warren, 20, of Corona, suffered a deep, 15-inch-long cut on his arm, Goad said.
The Norco Fire Department had to cut open the roof of McIlrath’s truck to get the two men out, he added.
In the second accident, six people suffered mostly minor injuries at Hamner Road and Valley View, when a car pulling out of a parking lot was struck by another, a sheriff’s deputy said. The injured were treated at Circle City and Corona Community hospitals.
