Huge Fire in Everglades Reportedly Set for ‘Fun’

NAPLES, Fla. — A 10,000-acre fire that was burning out of control Monday in the tinder-dry Everglades was set by arsonists “having fun,” forestry officials said.
More than 230 separate fires were reported on about 21,000 acres across the state, but the Everglades blaze was the worst, Wayne Young of the Division of Forestry said. Strong winds and underbrush killed by the recent freeze have created a perfect climate for wildfires, he said.
