Applications will close on Feb. 8 for resident moorings at the 1,150-slip, $60-million West Channel-Cabrillo Beach marina and recreational complex expected to be in full operation in San Pedro by the end of this year.
Spike Harvey, executive director of the Southern California Boat Show (Friday through Feb. 10 at the Los Angeles Convention Center), said that there is a large demand for new slips to berth pleasure boats in Southern California.
In addition to the marina, the facility will have two parks, a salt marsh, youth camp, museum, 250-room hotel, three restaurants, mall shopping, walking paths, a community building and an operations center. The complex is being built on the site of Fort MacArthur and California Yacht Anchorage.
