PCAA : 49er Comeback Falls Short

Cal State Long Beach outscored Fresno State, 23-4, late in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs held on for a 60-56 Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. win at Selland Arena.
Trailing 54-33 with 6:57 left, the 49ers closed to within 58-56 with 59 seconds remaining. Long Beach had a chance to tie the game following a steal, but Darryl Adams stepped out of bounds while attempting a 20-footer, and Marvin Carter clinched the win for Fresno State on a pair of free throws with four seconds left.
Guard Mitch Arnold, who led all scorers with 16 points, had 15 in the first half as Fresno State moved to a 36-22 lead.
Fresno State is 4-1 in PCAA play and 9-5 overall. Long Beach is 0-4 and 2-10.
