ORLANDO, Fla. — A man who claimed to have a can of gasoline and demanded to be taken to Cuba was overpowered by passengers on an Eastern Airlines jet that made an unscheduled landing here today, authorities said.
No injuries were reported aboard Eastern Flight 403 from Newark, N.J., to Miami, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said.
The plane was forced to land at Orlando at 1:14 a.m., and “by 1:50, it was all over,” the spokesman said. “The passengers were taken off the aircraft and the hijacker was taken into custody.”
