Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies stormed a home in the Cudahy area of Bell early this morning and fired six canisters of tear gas into the residence to smoke out an Orange County Jail escapee but found no trace of the convict, authorities said.
Teams of investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and several other police agencies found no evidence to prove Michael Wade Mohon had been at the Liveoak Avenue house, according to Lt. Dick Olson, an Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman. He said investigators are conducting an intensive search for Mohon, 38, who allegedly disarmed a deputy at the UC Irvine Medical Center on Thursday afternoon and escaped with the officer’s 38-caliber revolver. When he escaped, Mohon was awaiting trial on charges that he tried to kill a Fountain Valley police officer following a burglary in December.
