Ground has been broken on the third biological sciences building at UC Santa Barbara, a $1,967,000, two story structure that will contain a 150-seat lecture room and six undergraduate laboratories.
The building, adjacent to the two existing biological sciences buildings, was designed by Los Angeles architect A. Quincy Jones and is being built by J.W. Bailey Co. of Santa Barbara. With 1,500 under-graduate and 160 graduate students, the biological sciences department is the largest teaching unit at the university’s Santa Barbara campus.
