Chapman Women Win CCAA Opener

The top-ranked Chapman College women’s basketball team beat Cal State Los Angeles, 82-58, Thursday night in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. opener at Cal State L.A.
Junior guard Susan Bergendahl scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Panthers (12-2). Leone Patterson added 20 points and Missy Firpo had 17 for Chapman, which plays at UC Riverside Saturday night.
The Panthers broke the game open by scoring 16 straight points midway through the second half, and coasted to the win.
