Westlake 55, Simi Valley 52 After losing four of its first five games, Westlake High is now on the warpath. By edging Simi Valley High, 55-52, in a Marmonte League opener, the Warriors posted their sixth victory in eight games and are now 7-6 overall.
They were paced by guards Rob Bowen and Greg Smith. Each scored 16 points. Teammate Ken Burke, a senior forward who is also a two-time state champion high jumper, added nine points and nine rebounds.
Center Mark Robinson led Simi Valley with 20 points, though he hit only 8 of 20 shots from the field. Senior forward Sean Harrigan finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds. The Pioneers are now 6-5 overall.
