Lola Wells may be the lower scoring of the two Wells sisters, but she had a big title game for the second year in a row to lead top-seeded Miller to the Division I-A championship.
Wells had 17 points, eight steals and six assists to lead Miller to a 51-40 victory over Los Osos.
Sophomore Chloe Wells, who is the leading scorer for the Rebels with a 17.5-point average, scored 15 and had four steals.
She had a three-pointer that sparked a 10-0 run in the third quarter. Her shot tied the score at 27-27, then Lola’s put the Rebels ahead for good.
Lola averaged 9.7 points this season.
The one significant advantage that Los Osos (25-6) had never developed. Cierra Warren, a 6-foot-4 junior, picked up her second foul 96 seconds into the game. She played only 18 minutes before fouling out with 3:17 to go. She scored six, which is 16 below her average.
Miller held a 14-8 lead after one quarter, and 24-22 after two, and carried a 40-30 lead into the fourth.
Miller, a Division I for the state playoffs, begins Southern California Regional play on Monday.
