On beating out Texas for the services of St. Bonaventure’s Darrell Scott, one of the top running back recruits in the nation, Colorado Coach Dan Hawkins said he believed everything would work out for the best.
‘You never really know [about recruits]; I always say these things work out like they’re supposed to so you try to do a good job of representing yourself and the university and allowing those guys to matriculate to the place they think they’re supposed to. He does have his uncle here and he’s very close to him and that family tie always plays.
‘Everybody always gets into the glitz and glamor of signing day, but we wouldn’t sign them if we didn’t think they were good students and good people and could come in here and contribute.’
