Basketball: Northwood hires Lutheran South coach

Northwood has hired Richard Fujii as its boys’ basketball coach. Fujii met with team members today/Friday.

He had been hired in July to start up the program at Lutheran South, which will begin junior varsity play later this year. The school opened in Irvine in August and isn’t expected to field a varsity team until the 2008-09 season.

Fujii replaced Tim O’Brien, who resigned in August shortly after one of the Timberwolves’ top players, Jessee Hazely, transferred to Santa Margarita. O’Brien started Northwood’s program in 2000.
