After a roughly nine-hour standoff, Pasadena police negotiators succeeded in talking a potential jumper down from the Colorado Street Bridge a short time after 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Passersby reported a man sitting on the edge of the bridge just after 10:20 a.m., prompting public safety officials to close off the area, Pasadena Police Lt. Tracey Ibarra said. The man was threatening to jump, she said.
Firefighters set up a rescue cushion under the bridge, said Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian, who confirmed that the unidentified man had surrendered to police.
